Horse-powered forestry management and logging
Our horses offer maximum effect with minimal environmental impact when it comes to forestry work. Able to navigate difficult woodland terrain, horses can extract timber without causing soil disturbance – a gentle approach that preserves the integrity of the ecosystem, and can’t be replicated by machines.
Horse-drawn bracken rolling
Rolling bracken is a low-impact, chemical-free way to control bracken, while also protecting sensitive landscapes and habitats. The rolling process produces multiple breaks in the plant’s stem, which kickstarts its natural healing process. This diverts the plant's energy into self-repair, which in turn reduces its growth and spread.
Using Clydesdale horses allows us to access remote areas that are inaccessible for heavy machinery, eliminates fossil fuel emissions, minimises ground disturbance in ecologically sensitive habitats, such a deer nurseries and Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs), and reduces noise pollution.
