Shared Dreams and Aspirations

When Tom and I crossed paths, it became evident that we shared similar dreams and aspirations. Our thoughts aligned, and our desires for a life imbued with our shared passion for horses were perfectly in sync. We both live and breathe for these magnificent animals and sought a way to integrate this passion into our work. Thus, in July 2023, we embarked on our journey as Oakwood Clydesdales. Our mission: to create a team of working horses dedicated to conservation, land management, forestry, displays, weddings, funerals, and promotional work.

Living a dream is a goal many aspire to achieve. We're now presented with the opportunity to turn our passion into our profession. Our vision for Oakwood Clydesdales was more than a personal pursuit; we aimed to demonstrate the versatility of Clydesdales as a breed. Building on Tom's experience in agricultural settings, we initiated our horses' farm work at home. They engaged in light paddock maintenance and appeared at country shows. As the saying goes, "from little acorns mighty oaks grow." Our ambitions grew as we expanded our horse-related endeavors, considering the investments and the necessary steps to bring our business to the forefront. Tom's conservation background equipped us with valuable insights into the equipment required for the demands of heavy horse work.

We pride ourselves on employing time-honored agricultural methods to deliver low-impact land management services that not only benefit our clients but also contribute positively to the environment.

We are dedicated to utilising traditional techniques such as mowing, harrowing, rolling, disking, and seeding for the management of wild flower meadows, along with additional land management services like bracken rolling and forestry work. What sets us apart from a mechanised contractor is our reliance on the power of Clydesdales, fostering a unique approach that champions environmental stewardship.

In an era dominated by modern machinery, our choice of working with horses is deliberate and purposeful. By using traditional methods this minimizes soil compaction, a stark contrast to the impact of heavy machinery. This reduction in soil compaction enhances the soil's ability to foster a thriving ecosystem, supporting a diverse array of flora, insect populations, and wildlife.

At Oakwood Clydesdales, we prioritise conservation, sustainability, the environment, and low-impact land management. These aren't just buzzwords for us; they reflect the essence of our business and the positive impact we strive to make on the world around us.

Join us on a journey where tradition, nature, and innovation converge seamlessly. Discover the difference that low-impact land management can make, and let Oakwood Clydesdales lead the way towards a more sustainable future.
